About Me
Background
I am originally from the Silicon Valley and I studied fine art, English, and French at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I began my design career in 2007 with some freelance work and then a full-time position as an in-house designer at a financial startup. Design perfectly captures my interest in the intricacies of communication and my need to create and iterate. After two years I went to graduate school in interaction design to broaden my knowledge of design and to learn additional skills.
After completing my master's degree, I now work with the user experience team at the Open Learning Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University.
Education
Carnegie Mellon University; Pittsburgh, PA
Master of Design in Interaction Design.
The University of California, Santa Barbara; Santa Barbara, CA
BA in Art Studio and English, with a minor in French. Through the Education Abroad Program, I spent my junior year at the Université Michel de Montaigne in Bordeaux, France.
Interests

In addition to my design work, I also enjoy painting. The images in my paintings come spontaneously or from photographs. I am particularly interested in enlarging what look like tiny landscapes to me: bits of flora, fungi, and pools of water. The more time spent with a painting, the vaster and more generative the little world becomes.
You can view more examples in my painting gallery, see some of the photographs that have inspired my paintings in my photography gallery, or view my drawing gallery.
